Global Lead for People Systems, Transformation and Analytics. Arun has led Chargebee through SuccessFactors implementation, integrations, and vendor and consultant management. Arun also leads the team that drives Chargebee’s HR System and People Analytics and is focused on HR Operations, Benefits, and Payroll. 

Objectives 

Chargebee was seeking a complete employee health and wellness solution, over the traditional insurance coverage that they had been using previously. Arun and his team had recognized the importance of having a proactive approach to employee well-being, against having a reactive approach - only insurance coverage. Plum’s comprehensive wellness offering appealed to Chargebee’s needs. 

Result  

Chargebee wanted to upgrade their employee wellness experience, pre-health and post-health. Plum’s focus on telehealth and wellness benefits, in addition to employee insurance, enabled Arun and his team to provide that experience. 

Here’s what Arun believes made all the difference. “It was Plum's innovative approach to benefits that caught our attention, and the mobile app experience. Employees would want to visit a website like Plum's as compared to a sober one.

Our focus was largely to improve the experience for employees, and we were able to do a pretty decent job of that. 

We almost saw a 30% improvement in employee satisfaction when we moved from our previous provider to Plum.”

Culture at Chargebee

Chargebee promotes a healthy work-life balance through initiatives such as unlimited leave, no-meeting Fridays, and mandatory block leave. These policies emphasize the importance of personal time and self-care which contribute to overall employee well-being.

Arun says, “Chargebee aims to cultivate a culture where employees prioritize their own well-being.  

We are actively exploring ways to shift from extrinsic motivation (reward-based) to intrinsic motivation for employee health, for instance, by helping employees manage their calendars if they appear too full. 

We also encourage people to take their block leaves, if they haven’t, to recoup or do some focussed time off for learning and development.”

Challenges 

Chargebee wanted an employee-centric policy design to serve its wide employee demographic. Arun and his team also wanted a digitized claims and wellness experience, with clear and consistent communication throughout the process to reduce stress and anxiety.

Additionally, Chargebee was seeking a comprehensive wellness solution, with an insurance policy on par with the policy from the previous year. 

Solution 

To enable employee-driven insurance and benefits, Arun and his team actively encouraged direct conversations between employees and Plum representatives. Plum ran a survey for the company's pre-policy construction. The result was top-notch benefits curation, bearing in mind Chargebee’s employee demographic. 

Chargebee's policy extends coverage to employees and their families, including parents and parents-in-law. This approach demonstrates the company's commitment to providing a safety net for all family members, reducing employees' concerns about their loved ones' well-being.

To ensure that employees have a digitized experience, Chargebee chose Plum. 

The Plum employee app enables your employees to view what’s covered/not, find network hospitals, initiate cashless or reimbursement claims, set up and attend telehealth consultations, and access health benefits (1MG, Lenkskart, Cult, etc.), all from the same app.

The Plum admin dashboard makes benefits administration effortless. Using the Plum admin dashboard you can invite employees to self-enrol, add/delete employees easily, and auto-generate invoices to share with finance.
